Bridging the Military-Civilian Divide

The Vietnam War – Louisiana Remembers

In support of documentary filmmaker Ken Burns’ new landmark series about the Vietnam War, Louisiana Public Broadcasting is launching a new initiative called The Vietnam War – Louisiana Remembers.

This ambitious LPB outreach project surrounding the “The Vietnam War” documentary series will include screenings and panels discussion around the state, special news and public affairs coverage of Louisiana’s role in the war and the return home, efforts to record oral histories with veterans, families,  refugees and war protesters, locating photographs of Louisiana soldiers killed in action, encouraging Louisianans to reach out and thanking those who served in Vietnam and serve today.

Did you, a family member, or someone you know serve in, or were affected by, the Vietnam War?  If so, LPB wants to preserve and share your story.  Every Thursday, beginning July 6, LPB invites you to come to our studios in Baton Rouge to record your Vietnam experience.  You can also share your own history with LPB using the links at the right of this page through your own videos, photographs or written stories.  To learn more and to schedule an interview, go to
